How to Mix CBD Oil With Vape Juice
Trying out all of the new CBD and THC products on the market is fun, until you forget what goes where. Does flower go on a dab? (No!) Can you smoke shatter in a joint? (Yes!) CBD concentrates can be versatile, but no one wants to inhale the wrong stuff. We see a lot of questions about one combo in particular: CBD oil and vaping. Is CBD oil enough to put in a pen? Do you have to mix it? If the thought of mixing CBD oil and vape juice piques your curiosity– here’s everything you need to know!
CBD Oil vs. E-Liquids
From the looks of it, CBD oil and vape juice are pretty similar. But there’s more than meets the eye, and the two have plenty of differences. When it comes to CBD oil, there are various benefits, including the treatment of chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and more. CBD oil also has more popular medical benefits for treating epilepsy.
As for e-liquids or “vape juice,” the most common options contain nicotine. Although, many zero-nicotine e-liquids offer a sweet flavor and smooth hit. Vaping e-liquids containing nicotine is a popular method for people who are trying to quit smoking cigarettes. However, if your body isn’t used to nicotine, nicotine vape juices may cause some unwanted side effects such as dizziness or nausea. This is an important thing to consider when thinking about mixing vape juice with CBD oil– you want to make sure the proportions are right. There are also CBD vape juices that are different from CBD oil.
Safety & Vaping CBD Oil
If you’re interested in vaping CBD oils, there are a few key things to keep in mind. The first thing to note is that there is a difference between CBD oils meant for topical use CBD oils intended for inhalation. If the CBD oil you have is intended to take orally, then it’s not the kind you should be vaping.
It’s also important to remember that vaping CBD will not make you feel high, with the expectation of CBD e-liquids containing THC. Luckily, many CBD vape oils are THC-free! If you’re still wondering if your CBD oil is suitable for vaping, check the ingredients for anything besides the following:
-PG/VG/CBD Extract
-Terpenes
-Cannabinoids
If your CBD oil contains something other than what is listed, you probably shouldn’t be vaping it. Another way to distinguish safety is by checking the label– it shouldn’t contain actual oil. The final safety tip you need to consider is getting a proper dosage.
Finding The Right Dosage
Getting the right dosage for your CBD vape oil will ultimately rely on your preference. It’s extremely unlikely to overdose on CBD, but you also don’t need an absurd amount to feel the effects. If you’re an avid CBD user, you probably take around 20mg (more or less) every day. That being said, most CBD vape cartridges offer 1-2 mg per hit and come in containers with about 100-200mg of CBD.
As for e-liquids that contain nicotine, it’s important to know your limits. If you don’t frequent nicotine products, you might want to use a nicotine-free e-liquid or use a smaller ratio when mixing with CBD. The average dosage is 1:1 or 2:3, depending on your preferences.
Benefits of Vaping CBD Oil
While you may be used to topical or oral doses of CBD, you might enjoy the benefits of vaping CBD. One of the most significant advantages to vaping CBD is the instant effect. When you eat or apply CBD, it will take longer for your body to absorb it, and you’ll end up waiting for the results to kick in. However, with CBD vaping, it only takes a few seconds to enter your bloodstream so you can feel the effects.
Aside from this benefit, there are endless benefits that align with the overall benefits of taking CBD in general. Although, you may prefer vaping due to the fast-acting effect or the discrete nature of vaping in general.

First, you want to double-check and make sure the CBD oil you are using is suitable for vaping. Once you feel confident that you have safe oil to vape, add it to your favorite microwave-safe container to melt the solution. Put the container with your CBD oil in the microwave on LOW for one minute, and continue to add 20 seconds until you reach a melted consistency.
Now that your oil is melted to a similar consistency to your vape juice, figure out what ratio you’re comfortable with– the basic ratio is 1:1. Still, if you want higher CBD effects, you may want to try 2:3 to meet your preferences. Add your e-liquid per your chosen ratio, and begin to mix together. Continue mixing until the solutions are entirely blended– then let cool!
Once the blend is cooled, you’re ready to start vaping! But before you get into it, remember to make sure you are following the safety precautions we’ve mentioned. We also might suggest a nicotine-free blend for a more beneficial experience– but to each their own.
Experiment to your heart’s desire by changing up the ratios or mixing different types of CBD oils or vape juices! There are so many high-quality CBD oils and e-liquids out there, with different flavors to enjoy and benefits to gain! There are plenty of ways to enjoy CBD, but this method allows you to get a little creative.
At the end of the day, if you have quality/safe ingredients, an excellent vaping device, and a good sense of your preferences/limits when it comes to vaping– you’re bound to have a great experience.
